Personal Injury Tips for Maximizing your Recovery

See a doctor immediately. A doctor's examination will legitimize your claim. If your injuries are serious enough, go to the emergency room and/or urgent care. As soon as possible, you must consult with your family doctor. Remember if your symptoms do not appear in your medical records they do not exist.

Keep a journal/pain log. You are not going to remember every thing about your injuries 6-12 months after the incident/accident if you do not keep a written history. In addition, keep all of your prescription bottles and keep a log of the medications taken.

Preserve the evidence. Take photographs of the injuries immediately after the incident/accident to document the extent of your injuries. Some injuries will worsen in appearance hours/days after the incident/accident. Therefore, take photographs often for the first few weeks. Take photographs of the scene of the incident/accident immediately. The appearance of the site will change quickly over time. Also, take photographs of any vehicles involved in the incident/accident to preserve the extent of damage. Develop any photographs relating to your claims immediately to determine if you have captured the evidence accurately. If not take more photographs.

Consult an attorney immediately. Do not give a statement to an insurance company without consulting an attorney. Every thing you say to the insurance company can be used to minimize your recovery.
